Brady
HandiMark
Technical Support:
QUESTION:
No matter what I do, my Brady HandiMark continues to tell me to
"load new supply". I have already put a 2 inch tape in the machine,
along with a 2 inch ribbon.
The
Brady HandiMark also displays a #3 in the lower right hand corner.
ANSWER:
Each Brady HandiMark tape has an smart chip built into the side
of the cartridge. If you load or remove a tape from the Brady
HandiMark, while it is turned on, this may result in the smart
chip being damaged. The tape is then rendered useless and you
will get the error message you are seeing
Another
possibility is static electricity. Should the tape cartridge be
exposured to static electricity, the smart chip may be damaged.
What
has most likely happened is that the tape you are trying to use
has a damaged smart chip. The Brady HandiMark no longer detects
this tape as being a valid Brady HandiMark tape.
Always
be sure to turn the Brady HandiMark off before removing or installing
a tape.
